#AskAMusicScientist

In music science, and in many other fields of research, most research comes from the researcher's interest(s), and 'filling gaps in the literature'. This isn't inherently bad or wrong, but as (mostly) publicly-funded workers, it'd be interesting to see what questions the general public has about music perception, music and the brain, music education, and related music questions!

The goal of this project is to create a website where the general public can submit questions about anything music science. Researchers can then answer questions directly if there is literature that can answer it, or decide to conduct a study to answer the question. In this way, researchers are in direct contact with the public that funds them, conducting research they know is important to people. A simple enough idea, it is nevertheless a significant logistical undertaking.

What would you want to see on a website like this? What do you think it needs?

This project is suitable for a student interested in data management, community engagement and community building. Aspects of the project can be suited to an undergraduate honours, master's or PhD thesis.
